JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2019 NEWSLETTER

Principal’s Notes:

Happy 2019 Snow Family!

I hope that 2019 will bring you all of the desires of your heart and more! We have been off to a great start at Snow. Our students kicked off the new year with a PBIS Kickoff Assembly. The purpose of the assembly was to highlight some of the strengths of our school community and to focus on areas of improvement. As always, we encourage our students to Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Responsible. These are the same expectations that we also want our community to embrace. One of the key areas is on our parking lot. Please take a second look at our Parking Lot Rules and help us keep our students safe.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM: In 2018 27.5% of our students were chronically absent. “Chronic absenteeism is defined as a pupil who is absent on 10 percent or more of the school days when the total number of days a pupil is absent is divided by the total number of days the pupil is enrolled and school was actually taught in the regular school days of the district, exclusive of Saturdays and Sundays.” According to research, 83% of students chronically absent in K or 1st grade are unable to read on level by 3rd grade. Students are more likely to succeed academically when they attend school on a consistent basis. Parents can assist by taking an active role and staying involved in your child’s daily experiences at school, plan ahead, keep updated, and reinforce positive behavior. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!

Progress Reports: Progress Reports were sent home on Friday, January 18th. Please review with your child and address any comments or concerns with your child’s teacher.
